Quoting from none none's mail on Sun, Jun 22, 2003 at 06:46:18PM -0700:
fetchmail-5.9.0-21.8.0 (rpm)
This is too old.

Here, your SMTP server has accepted and then bounced the mail. There
is nothing fetchmail can do about this. You will have to reconfigure
your SMTP server (or MDA) to keep in queue and not bounce mails during
I/O errors.

Jun 23 00:05:58 hostname fetchmail[16603]: SMTP listener doesn't like

You will have to upgrade fetchmail to 6.2.2 for this.
