RE: [fetchmail]fetchmail-socket error

2003-12-10 17:56:09
i just downloaded version 6.2.5-1, no luck. BTW, netscape can't download the
email messages from my earthlink account. i'm starting to think something is
not quite right with the way earthlink and linux is configured. i don't
understand how things could have changed, but i think i'm over my head. do i
need to start worrying about sendmail configurations, /etc/files, like hosts,
aliases, ...?

here is the new output from fetchmail -v

fetchmail -v

fetchmail was working but then quit. i'm not sure that it's related but
it stopped working around the time i added another email address to my
earthlink account. ever since that time i've also had troubled sending
email through netscape, etc. on the other hand using xp works. very
frustrating. any help would be greatly appreciated.

here is my .fetchmailrc file
poll pop.earthlink.net
        tracepolls
         proto pop3
         user "joelvsmith"
         pass xxxxxxxx
is "joelvsmith" here # from the output this should be joel
         fetchall

That's an OLD version. Try again with the latest (6.2.5) and see if you get
the same problem.

Looks like you had a problem with pop.earthlink.net. As I said above, try
again with 6.2.5. You might also want to fix it so it passes email with the
right local domain.
