All
I'm in a spot of bother and pretty new to fetchmail.
I have a customer who is running Mandrake 8.2 with fetchmail - all was well
until friday....
Their mail hosting chap called up and said he was switching servers so
usernames and passwords needed to be changed. so at the specified time I
stopped fetchmail - waited for the go ahead and changed /etc/fetchmailrc to the
new username and password.
Didn't work no matter what I did, using verbose mode showed that fetchmail
couldn't log in.....
Anyway some time later I tried fetchmail -f /etc/fetchmailrc -v and it worked
400+ messages came down but have dissappeared.
I traced the problem ddwn to another fetchmailrc file /root/.fetchmailrc which
had a slightly different config the one it HAD been working on had the line
user ffnant there with password xxxxxx is root *
and the one in /etc had
user ffnant there with password xxxxxx is root * here
Which makes me think when I forced it to use /etc/fetchmailrc it put all the
messages to root but checking /root/mail, /var/spool/mail/root reveals nothing!
DOes anyone have any idea where these messages have gone? Or if I am even
looking in the right place.
Many Thanks
Ifan
