[fetchmail]'Server CommonName mismatch' without SSL

Hello. I am using fetchmail 6.2.5 (from Debian Testing's 6.2.5-18 package). I am having issues with getting 'Server CommonName mismatch' warnings; however, I am not using SSL. From what I can tell, it would appear fetchmail is trying to initialize a STLS connection, despite me telling it not to use encryption. Is this a configuration issue, or a bug?

My .fetchmailrc:
poll mail.fint.org
 protocol: POP3
 username: burton
 password: <removed>
 is bwindle here;

Here is a trace:
