Are you actually arguing against ever having optional, named parameters
for a content-type?
I have no problems with optional parameters in a content-type; I'd just
like to keep them all in one place. The set of optional parameters can
be specified in the definition of the full header contents for a
specific content-type. Such a specification can also mention how to
interpret unknown options for that content-type, for that matter. - NB
