Another PS: one of the worst behaviors of most implementations of netnews is
their tendency to strip what they feel are `evil' characters. This includes
the ESC characters needed for 7-bit clean Japanese in ISO-2022.
Of course, xenophobic Americans think this is OK, because it makes their
