Re: more MIME-compliant freeware

Mark,

The announcement of your software is, of course, delightful and I
applaud your public-mindedness, along with Nathaniel's and Marshall's.

As a point of clarification, however, it should be noted, that
MIME is NOT a Proposed Standard. It has been submitted by the RFC822
Extensions working group with a request that it be assigned Proposed
Status. Review and recommendation by the IESG, and approval by the
IAB, has not yet been given. Personally, I am quite hopeful that such
approval will come, but the Internet standards process occasionally results
in some changes to specs, during this phase.

It also should be noted that the Internet Drafts directory is explicityly
advertised as "volatile" storage and should IN NO WAY be viewed as a
publication medium. For example, no long-term archival copy of its
contents is kept and its maintainers explicitly claim that it is
inappropriate to cite any of its contents in articles.

(Not trying to rain on your quite excellent parade, but I'd rather people
suffer a reality adjustment now than later.)

Dave
