RE: software that drops MIME headers

1993-02-12 18:54:50
I've had some experience with the AT&T mail service not accepting MIME
messages. Presumably this is because AT&T mail uses the Content-Type:
header line too, but with completely different meaning. It seems to reject
messages that it can't understand.

This is definitely a problem which I've worked around locally by just forcibly
removing the Content-Type: header from things I send to ATTMail. It is my
understanding that this is acknowledged to be a bug and it is scheduled to be
fixed. However, as far as I know it has not been fixed (in particular, there's
an ATTMail address on the PEM-DEV list, and I still get a bounce back when I
post to that list in MIME format).

Does anyone else have any additional information on this. This is quite
literally the only problem I've seen with MIME messaging that has proved
insoluable unless you're willing to totally butcher your mail.
