I don't know if it really was a MUA issue.
According to the discussion it was a issue with Netscape on Windows. But this
is easily verified. I mailed a ~1Mb PDF with embedded color pictures and such
using quoted-printable. I also peeked at the content -- nasty! I then read it
using Netscape 4.77 on a Windows 98 system. It worked fine.
For good measure I tried it using Netscape 4.76 on Mac and Outlook Express 5.02
on Mac. They worked flawlessly as well. I would have tried it with Outlook on
Windows too but I could not figure out how to easily redirect it to a different
mail account.
So either the report was wrong in its particulars or else it is a problem that
has since been fixed. Regardless, the bottom line is that I cannot substantiate
the claim that this is actually a problem.
