Your statement above is correct.

If this is the case, then we add a small section to the Kohn document of the
form:

NNTP Transport Requirements

   The BLURDYBLOOP command in NNTP uses the message-id as an argument.
   The syntax for this command does not provide any way for spaces to
   appear in the message-id.  Therefore, message-ids in the Message-ID,
   In-Reply-To, and References headers of a message MUST NOT contain
   the space character.

Implementation Recommendations

   Some widely-used NNTP implementations are known to core dump, reformat
   reformat the hard drive, and watch Joe Millionaire on TV if given a Date:
   header containing a symbolic timezone in a coment, e.g.
        Date: Sat, 22 Feb 2003 10:26:00 -0800 (PST)
   It is recommended that such comments be removed prior to transmitting
   a message via NNTP.
