Re: Tightening RFC 2822 msg-IDs

2003-02-24 16:32:30

I mention in passing that POP3 protocol's UIDL (RFC 1939, p. 12)
provides for a UIDL consisting of characters in the range
0x21-0x7e (printable US-ASCII graphic characters) with a
maximum length of 70. I further note that some POP3 server
implementations use a message's msg-id as the UIDL, and
some of those implementations do so even for msg-ids longer
than 70 characters.

N.B. I am NOT proposing any change to 2822 because of that.
