Yes, some current Netnews software would accept WSP there, though some
would only recognize SP. For that reason, the USEFOR document requires SP
(possibly followed by further WSP/FWS/CFWS as appropriate).
However, it would still be an improvement in interoperability if 2822-bis
were to require at least WSP. But again, as I have just said elsewhere in
this thread, even if the implementation you mention were rendered
technically non-compliant by the change, it would still interoperate
correctly with all compliant email agents - just not with some Netnews
ones.
