Because it has nothing to do with UUCP. The whole UUCP thing is a red
herring. There are lots of delayed delivery situations that can
bounce. A *vacation* message is a form of bounce. A message could
bounce after acceptance because it there wasn't enough disk space. A
message could bounce because it was forwarded to another machine
which was down.

I'm not sure which upsets me more: that people are so unwilling to accept
