Because mail that comes through the list goes into my folder for the
list, where I may read it now, or a week from now. Mail sent to me
goes to my direct inbox where I deal with it at a much higher
priority. Yes, I could set up rules to deal with this better (and in
fact I do--mail cc'd to me is colored differently in the list), but
that won't catch all the possible cases in which I might receive a
private copy. So if you respond to one of my postings without cc'ing
me, I may not reply anytime soon. In fact, since I occasionally just
wipe an entire thread without reading, I may not reply at all.
The "Reply To" should be to "the List" then you read, hit reply enter
comments and send.
Lots of debate on that one too of course, although I happen to agree.
At least that's how I have seen serveral other lists work in the past...
And it was *MUCH* simpler.
I've seen this argued back and forth on virtually every list I've
been on in the past twenty years.
