I do not think this view has been taken before with spam (in terms of a
research paper at least).  Though it's a very interesting idea.


I would add to this that this is similar in many ways to the analogies drawn between real-world viruses/worms and computers viruses. Perhaps this can be extended to spam.

Another interesting point, is that in spam machines are fighting machines - spam is sent by spam programs, not humans; and is fought via spam filters, not humans.
