I was just up on the IMC web site http://www.imc.org and notice that their
Secure Connect Conference in July is focused on S/MIME with no mention of
OpenPGP. Has the IMC abandoned OpenPGP officially or is this one of those
behind the scene decisions?
Neither. I removed PGP/MIME and OpenPGP from the event because no one
expressed any interest in testing either at the event. If two or more
companies want to attend and participate, I'd be happy to put PGP/MIME and
OpenPGP back in the event.
IMC is still a proponent of OpenPGP because some of our members are
committed to it (the same is true for S/MIME for the same reasons). Just
because no one wants to come to an event to test PGP/MIME and OpenPGP
interoperability doesn't mean we don't like them any more.
In the future, feel free to ask me questions about IMC policy directly
instead of sending them to a mailing list. :-)
