Folks interested in OPES.
There has been considerable discussion about OPES on the
ietf(_at_)ietf(_dot_)org
mailing list since its charter was announced there. As you know the
IESG is in process of reviewing OPES for working group formation and
open discussions on the charter are part of that process. I have been
routing some emails to the
OPES mailing list but some have not made it. You can look that the mail
archive off
the ietf web site (www.ietf.org) under mailing list - discussion archive.
Strong opinions are coming from folks not attending the OPES meetings and
from attendees that would rather other working groups, other standards groups,
or even no standards at all be evaluated in this area. Many respondents are
opposed to
the concept of a service center in the "middle" of the network. Quality
notes were
sent out many folks including Brian Carpenter, Lee Rafalow as well as
Hilarie Orman.
If you wish to express your opinion about the OPES charter or its working group
formation you should consider sending a note to that effect to
ietf(_at_)ietf(_dot_)org(_dot_)
