Timing is everything. Just as the PKIX mailing list starts to talk about
ASN.1 again, a new draft comes out that does a good job of listing some of
the ASN.1 gotchas to look out for, as well as why ASN.1 isn't necessarily a
great format to use (although it's a tad too late for that now...). Anyhow,
take a look at
<http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-yu-asn1-pitfalls-00.txt>. The
author said he's open to adding any PKIX-specific and S/MIME-specific
warnings to the document.
