The MARID protocols are designed for email routed across the public
Internet according to RFC 974, so they do not apply to email being sent
via an SMTP smart host. There are *many* ways in which MUA SMTP
implementations are crap, and the above is a good example. However it is
not an example of a problem with strict HELO checking by an MX.
