Howdy.
I'm in search of source code and manuals for LISTSERV, or
equivalent functionality, prior to 1991.
In spite of LISTSERV's survival, its early code is proving
quite difficult to find.
Dave, there were two things called LISTSERV in early BITNET
context. The earlier one was done by Hank Nussbacker. I think
I have that code somewhere and think I could find him and get
permission to give it to you (assuming I could find it). The
second was Eric Thomas's "Revised LISTSERV" -- a complete
rewrite, preserving only some concepts and syntax. That is
probably the one you are thinking of. Eric is, as far as I
know, still around and selling a descendant of that code as a
commercial product and service. My memory is fading, but I
don't believe Eric's code has ever been public.
FWIW, both are, IIR, written largely in REXX.

Thanks.
