For the same reason your question to me is not an ad hominem:

      The focus is on what was said, not who said it.

So while my previous note might be criticized for being overly broad or or 
overly
vague, or inadequately substantiated, or just plain wrong, it was not "about"
the people but rather "about" the things being said.
