I agree, yes hashtag “#smilewithacoke” seems is very dangerous specially for
teenagers the favorite peoples for cocacola, but I add that behind all coca
cola decision, they are too big big marketing and image consulting cabinets and
big money.

I just hope it doesn’t backfire on them. Social media has a way of subverting
heavy-handed corporate initiatives.

In particular, the hashtag “#smilewithacoke” seems to me to be dangerously
close to something much ruder, in English.

It would be terrible if social media folks used that to make this trademark
grab look ridiculous.

Sounds like Thomas Piketty's economic theory. Some have too much of
the world's wealth so they may go ahead and waste it over the silliest
of many things out there online instead of doing what matters, but
what matters to them are profits and wasting money over sillier things
in life ;)

Drinks maker Coca-Cola has filed two trademark applications covering
Twitter
hashtags. Documents filed at the US Patent and Trademark Office in
December
show that the multinational company has applied to trademark
‘#cokecanpics’
and ‘#smilewithacoke’. It is not clear how the hashtags will be used
across
Coca-Cola’s various Twitter accounts, but the drinks brand has been
known to
encourage interaction with its more than two million followers. The
company
uses the #cokejourney slogan on Twitter to promote personal development
among Coca-Cola fans.
