Using one datapoint, an ad network (google) is helpful to
understand what browser users might look like but a set top box
without a browser may move significantly more bits and not be
apparent at all in the IPv6 stats at google.

I would like to chim in on that point. Actually google has a strong
bias for IPv6 adoption in devices speaking to google. While natural,
this really skews the numbers: The BigN (Google (YouTube), Facebook,
Akamai, Cloudflare, Netflix etc.) account for a major part of
overall traffic, especially in access networks.

Incidentily, most of these orgs have deployed v6 on the server side.
Hence, as soon as an access network rolls out v6, the traffic share
of v6 skyrockets, as a major portion of the remotes causing most
traffic well... support v6.

However, this observation does not hold for the heavy tail of the
Internet. Actually, I am currently investigating other datasources,
that are not biased towards end-users and "BigN" content providers;
There, v6 adoption for the heavy tail actually ranges more in the
field of 1%...
