Namazu problem? (long)

2004-05-24 17:38:39
Hello;

I've got a strange problem with search archives on my site.
Initially got lots of these in the logs:
[2004-05-24 16:58:00] [14882] read-mail: Use of
uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at
/usr/local/bin/mknmz line 2430, <GEN79> line 534539.

Searching the archives was not bringing a complete result
set back. Based on information in the archives here, I rm'd
all the NMZ.* files and attempted to reindex using
mk-search-index <listname>

Got lots of these...
Malformed UTF-8 character (unexpected continuation byte
0xa1, with no preceding start byte) at
/usr/local/share/namazu/pl/gfilter.pl line 99.
Malformed UTF-8 character (unexpected continuation byte
0xa3, with no preceding start byte) at
/usr/local/share/namazu/pl/gfilter.pl line 99.
Malformed UTF-8 character (unexpected continuation byte
0xa1, with no preceding start byte) at
/usr/local/share/namazu/pl/gfilter.pl line 99.

Followed by lots of lines similar to:
Malformed UTF-8 character (unexpected non-continuation byte
0xc3, immediately after start byte 0xcf) at
/usr/local/share/namazu/filter/mailnews.pl line 216.
/usr/local/share/namazu/filter/mailnews.pl line 216.
syntax error at /usr/local/share/namazu/filter/mailnews.pl
line 216, near ") <="
Global symbol "$weighted_str" requires explicit package name
at /usr/local/share/namazu/filter/mailnews.pl line 225.
Global symbol "$omake" requires explicit package name at
/usr/local/share/namazu/filter/mailnews.pl line 225.
syntax error at /usr/local/share/namazu/filter/mailnews.pl
line 226, near "}"
Compilation failed in require at /usr/local/bin/mknmz line
413.

This is only a portion of the total error message.

More weirdness? This is part of the above-referenced line
216 in mailnews.pl. See the end of the line.
 if ($i < 5 && ($line =~ tr/\n/\n/)) <= 5 && $line =~
/(^\s*(Date:|Subject:|Message-ID:|From:|||))|(^.+(|reply\s*|Û©|||

Running Namazu 2.0.13 on Red Hat AS 2.1, perl 5.8.0-88.4.
Rebuilt both Namazu 2.0.12 and 2.0.13 with the same result.

Any suggestions? I looked for an update to Namazu, it
appears namazu.org is down...
