No I don't want to remove them. I want possible follow ups to appear
like
definite follow ups do when you view a single message in a thread.

Okay, I've done this and got subject follow ups to appear as explicit
follow-ups but only on the thread index page. I can't seem to get them to
appear as follow ups/references on the message pages.
