  | Is anyone building on OpenBSD or NetBSD?

NetBSD's pkgsrc for nmh doesn't require (or use) bash, and nmh (currently
still 1.3 there) builds fine using the normal NetBSD sh (which is a zsh
variant I believe).

pkgsrc can be used on lots of systems (OS types & machine architectures),
the only one I see much in the way of patches for nmh is for Dragonfly BSD
(and some of those may no longer be needed with a more posixified nmh.)

Aside from those, the only significant patches are to support installing
into a staging area rather than the final locations - pkgsrc likes to
build and install everything to a temporary location, check that everything
was correctly built & installed, then build a tar file from the temp area,
and unpack that in the place stuff should be installed (that way it is
known exactly what was installed, and where) - the effect is that stuff
needs to get installed into different places than where it is to be found
when it runs (rather than just using the same path for both uses).
