i think we should keep doing it. a decent sshd or telnetd could signal a
buffer flush to the remote end using the tcp urgent pointer.
Hm, I see that a tcflush() may make it to the other end of a pseudo-tty,
assuming it's in packet mode, so in theory it could work out. Ok, then
I vote for leaving it in there; at worst it does no harm.
