if you're not interested in checking the folder or updating cur, or
other state, perhaps (in the first two cases, at least) you should be
using the -file switch. this assumes you're willing to cache the
output of mhpath.
Good shot! Also, `mhpath +inbox' skips getdents(2) whereas `mhpath
+inbox 42' doesn't, so wouldn't it be safe to just do the former and
tack on the `/42' oneself? It's always that simple, isn't it?
