Hm. It doesn't look like that is currently possible. There should have
been a -noprefer switch that would zero out the current prefer list ...
but that wasn't done.
Could I maybe argue that the absence of a -noprefer switch is not just
a misfeature but a bug, and therefore can be fixed as part of 1.7 ????
