That is, what should I not do?
The bug is slocal(1)'s description of the .maildelivery file it uses
doesn't match the code.
The “.maildelivery” file controls how slocal filters and delivers
incoming mail. Each line of this file consists of five fields,
separated by whitespace or comma. Since double-quotes are honored,
these characters may be included in a single argument by enclosing
the entire argument in double-quotes.
The test that failed had a comma in a double-quoted string, thanks to
your /tmp/,A/... path. That should be fine, but the code split the path
at that point, deleting the comma.
If you don't use slocal then this won't bite you.
