If I run the following command the _BOOL does not get added to the Makefile

Aside if I run for fun ./configure CFLAGS='-D_BOIL'

in the Makefile.
I manually edited the Makefile and added _BOOL

If this gets increasing difficult down this route I will see if I can get the
sysadmin to download gcc and the appropriate dependences. And just use the gnu
compiler for NMH. We can still use the the ANSI C compiler for all our other
code.
