Pete,
I think your suggestion is a useful one. Perhaps we should
describe (using Content-Domain) what we currently protect as 822-body,
and 822-message would imply inclusion of headers, and other
Content-Domain values could be used for other types of contents.
I, like Bob Juneman, like the flexibility afforded by PEM
independent of message contents and would not want to loose that.
Finally, Steve Crocker and I disagree about the utility and
the relative danger of inclusion of message header info in PEM. So
long as what is included is commonly just the message body, then I
think there is less potential for confusion about the
"trustworthiness" of Date, From, cc and other fields that are not
authenticated. Once we cross that line, life becomes more complicated
in a variety of dimensions.
