Mark, I had trouble understanding your note. It's not so much a matter o agreeing or disagreeing with; it's just outside the terms of reference I'm familiar with in the definition of distinguished names. Perhaps this is meaningful inn a discussion of directory entries, but I think we need definitions of distinguished names which stand alone without directory structures. Steve
