Re: summary of technical issues

Let me explicitly ask Jim Galvin again: The public key itself is
a simple, sufficient and universally available way of selecting
among the keypairs that a user might have. What is the reason
for adding the complexity of arbitrary key selectors? ...
Please don't just explain again how to implement the
        complication. It must be justified.

You are correct Jeff, the public key itself is a simple way of selecting
among key pairs. However, it has the undesirable feature of exposing
the public key.

Also, Jeff, you are the only one who asserts there is complexity
associated with arbitrary key selectors. I can not overstate this fact.
Although different folks agree/disagree with different aspects of your
proposal, there is one point on which there is universal agreement. No
one except you believes there is complexity. I tried to convince you
that there was no complexity by discussing the implementation. If I've
been unsuccessful, I believe at this time we should just agree to
disagree on this point.

There are folks who do not want to be required to expose their public
key. Since there is no additional complexity associated with supporting
this feature I fail to see why it should not be included in the
specification.

Jim
