Release 1.0 of ASN.1 to C++ compiler sources

1995-01-25 19:04:00
This message announces the first release of an ASN.1 to C++
compiler. The compiler is developed as part of the Location
Independent Information Object Security work being performed
by BBN under contract to ARPA.

This release is the first part of a larger distribution which will
consist of additional applications, tools, and a timestamp signature
notary. Due to the wider scope of interest in this particular component,
this message is being disseminated widely.

The release consists of C and C++ source code which is built into the
compiler, and supporting libraries for compiler generated code. The
compiler currently only supports X.208, X.209, and the DER specifications
of X.509. 1992 ASN.1 extensions are being considered but are not ready
at this time.

The source is available for anonymous ftp at ftp.bbn.com.
The directory is /pub/outgoing/asn_src/ and the source is available as
ASNv1.0.tar or ASNv1.0.tar.Z.

Please NOTE that Web browsers have difficulty accessing this
directory, in part because of security measures built into
the ftp daemon. Please use "real" ftp to fetch this distribution.

Enjoy,

The IOS Development Team
