The fact of the matter is that the PEM-DEV e-mail list existed
independent of the PEM WG. The list was created long before the WG was
formed, and we do indeed intend to continue the list despite the fact
that the WG has concluded. It simply made sense to use the PEM-DEV
list as the WG list during the time the WG existed.

This seems like an appropriate time to say "Thanks!" and "Well Done!"
to Dave Balenson and the folks at TIS for having maintained the pem-dev
mailing list -- one of the best run lists I have come across -- and the
PEM archives, which I believe may be of considerable interest when
someone gets around to writing the history of secure communications
some day.
I'd also like to suggest that the pem-dev list may still serve a useful
purpose for public discussion on the subject of secure e-mail and the
public key infrastructure, and to respectfully request that TIS
consider keeping the list alive.
