Appearances can be deceiving. UIUC is responsible for gatewaying the
info.* groups. You should be contacting them. By removing
post-pem-dev(_at_)relay1(_dot_)uu(_dot_)net you have cut off access by
employees of
UUNET (and no one outside of UUNET). Please restore the subscription
that you have erroneously discontinued.
Sorry about that, David. The message in question had no sign of UIUC,
only UUNET, and the name post-pem-dev(_at_)relay1(_dot_)uu(_dot_)net fit the
model.
The fact that we don't get the news hierarchy in question doesn't
help. We will restore post-pem-dev(_at_)relay1(_dot_)uu(_dot_)net(_dot_)
If the gateway is inappropriate, you should have UIUC send an rmgroup
to remove the group worldwide.
We will contact UIUC (out-of-band, so as not to bring down the pem-dev
S/N further) and request that they dismantle the pem-dev to USENET
gateway, assuming they haven't already seen our messages and started
the process. For your consideration, messages sent to
info-pem-dev(_at_)uunet(_dot_)uu(_dot_)net do get posted to the mailing list
and you
are in a position to remedy that and possibly to rmgroup the offending
group. Whether or not it would be correct for you to initiate such
actions upon the list owner's request is an interesting question
inappropriate for this forum.
