newly installed procmail failing

hi

just installed procmail... no luck ... no mail gets through to SUN mailtool

mail runs ok normally.  
But, When same email sent with .forward file in place,
no mail appears  ...

permissions, etc. look like that recommended.   

heeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllpppppppppppp!!!!!

i checked the syslog file to see if there was more info...
there was , but i do not understand it.

now, when i do 

$  cat xxx|IFS=' ' && exec /home/drk/bin/procmail -f- || exit 75 #drk

and it hangs

syslog says...

then i killed it...
(  control c  and kill  pid      both produce
procmail: Terminating prematurely)

$ cat xxx | exec /usr/local/bin/procmail -f- || exit 75 #drk

exited cleanly

syslog has...
