Hi everyone,
I am a newbie to procmail, having trouble getting started.
I managed to compile and install the 3.10 software--all I did was to
change BASENAME in the main Makefile to my home directory and type
`make install'.
I then prepared a .forward file as explained in the procmail(1) man
pages, and made it world readable.
I then prepared a simple .procmailrc file with no recipes at all.
I then tried to send mail to myself. No mail was delivered to my usual
mailbox (/usr/spool/mail/qbcholm).
I then experimented with different definitions in the .procmailrc
file. In particular, I tried to turn on logging. Despite my efforts I
never got a logfile. My last attempt was with a procmailrc file like
this:
---------------------------------------- .procmailrc
LOGNAME=qbcholm
HOME=/home/qbcholm
PATH=/home/qbcholm/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/ucb:/bin:/usr/local/bin
SHELL=/bin/sh
MAILDIR=/home/qbcholm/Mail
LOGFILE=/home/qbcholm/procmail.log
LOG=hejhej
VERBOSE=on
----------------------------------------
In case it may help, this is what my .forward file looked like:
---------------------------------------- .forward
"|IFS=' '&&exec /home/qbcholm/bin/procmail -f-||exit 75 #qbcholm"
----------------------------------------
Finally, this is how my machine presents itself:
*************** showrev version 1.15 *****************
* Hostname: "ebcw247"
* Hostid: "52203809"
* Kernel Arch: "sun4c"
* Application Arch: "sun4"
* Kernel Revision:
4.1.4 (GENERIC) #2: Fri Oct 14 11:08:06 PDT 1994
* Release: 4.1.4
*******************************************************
What am I missing? Any help or hints welcome.
