It's not really a "problem", it's just that elm only locks spool files.
Anyway, you'll be able to tell elm 2.5 to lock whatever file you want. If
you've really got to have it now, I've got a patch that will implement
bascailly the same feature for 2.4. It's at
tigger.itc.virginia.edu:/pub/src/elm.pl24.diffs.gz (even though the diffs
are for PL 24, they should still work with PL 25).
