Hi,
Once I upgraded to bsdi 2.1(with patches) and put procmail(as before)
as my mailer, I've started getting sendmail errors of:
mailer local died with signal 13
This is:
SIGPIPE terminate process write on a pipe with no reader
It appears that this is may be associated with
Deferred: Name server: host name look up failure
sendmail errors that seem to occur just after the SIGPIPE
problem is logged in syslog for that sendmail process.
This happens several times a day, for incoming mail messages!.
These messages also seem to always have To: lines with quite a few
addresses - 36 for the current example, which shouldn't cause
a problem I'd think. Only 1 of the addresses in the To: list
is local.
If I cut out some of the addresses from the sendmail file in the mail queue,
in this case down to 33, the message is delivered to the local recipient.
Doesn't seem to matter which 3 addresses get eliminated!
Does procmail have a limit on the number of 'To:' addresses?
Has anyone else seen this behavior? We are running sendmail 8.7.4/8.7.3
and procmail v3.10 as our mailer.
Thanks for any info,
edgar nielsen
