Take a look at <URL:http://www.westnet.com/providers/>. It has a good
description of a method for using only sendmail to handle the virtual domains.
I have this up and working. I wrote some scripts to help with managing the
alias files and it works pretty cleanly. It correctly handles the problems you
are having. A big thanks to the list for providing me with this solution.
Thanks for the URL. They have some good ideas there.
However, I have many domains on my mailserver and would rather allow the
users control thier own Virtual Domain mail. Using procmail they can
modify thier .procmailrc themselves. Most of them I still setup the first
time, but they go in and modify it after that. It is A LOT less work.
Are there any hidden pitfalls or problems with using ^Received:? I am assuming
so since the ^TO macro doesn't look for it. I had a problem and was tempted to
solve it with this match but decided against it.
I've never had a problem with this, but have only been using if for about
2 weeks. One of the domains I'm using it for gets around 50ish messages
a day and hasn't complained yet. If there is a problem, please let me know.
