For system administrators and site managers...
What is the best way to PREVENT duplicate messages to users (as supposed to
filtering message-IDs from their mailboxes) when the user is contained on
multiple lists specified in the To or CC line? For example, if a message is
directed as such:
To: list-a, list-b
CC: user-1
and the dist files for list-a and list-b includes user-1. In this scenario,
user-1 will receive 3 messages in their mailbox. This is not acceptable.
Some points:
o The site maintains list-a and list-b
o We are asking for a prevention, since filtering is not option if
user-1 is an external user (outside the domain/site) and has no
local mailbox.
Vanilla Sendmail can handle this without any problem; but we would like to
continue using Procmail/Smartlist because of the numerous features they offer,
but this problem might just make us revert back due to user pressures.
Thank you in advance for any assistance and suggestions
