Distributing mail for a group

1996-12-30 15:06:47
(I've read the man pages, and I know some about procmail because I've been
reading this list for about a year. Rather than specific questions about
how to do something, I'm looking for suggestions as to the best approach to
take to handle the mail correctly. That's why I'm giving all the background
info here.)

I'm doing some web work for a singing group. Only one of the group members
(Matthew) is an internet user, and he is distributing the email manually by
printing it off and giving it to the other members.

I have a domain name set up so that mail to (anyone)@m-pact.com goes to the
account I have set up for them at my isp. I have simple procmail recipes
set up to forward the mail for all the guys to Matthew's internet account.
The basic recipe is

:0 c
* ^TOmarco
! mpact(_at_)aa(_dot_)net

This works and, of course, sends the mail intact. The problem is that
Matthew needs to read the message to find out who it's for. Of course, with
this system true privacy is impossible, but it would be nice if Matthew
could know whose mail it is and print it off without reading the contents.

My thought is to forward the message with the subject changed to "Mail for
Marco" and add an additional line to the body with the original subject.
I'm not sure how I would do that.

Is there another method that people would suggest? If this is the best way,
can someone supply me some basic code to help me move the subject to the
body?

Thanks, and Happy Holidays
