Need assistance with mail forwding mail

1997-05-07 10:32:00
I am somewhat new to procmail. I read the faq and the tutorials and
I do have procmail working but now I want to do a few more advanced
things.

What I want to do is have selected e-mail forwarded to my alpha pager.
I have this working but I need to be more selective about when this
occurs and what part of the message gets forwarded.

I would like to restrict the hours that mail would be forwarded to
the pager, say to between 9am and 10pm. This is so that the pager
will not go off in the middle of the night and keep beeping every
5 minutes until I press the button. I could either delay the forward
until 9am or just forget about it. (This seems similar to another
person's question on the list about sending delayed mail.)

An alpha pager will only display the first few lines of the e-mail
message (I think it is the first 200 characters). So, there is no
good reason to forward the entire message (and I do not really want
to send copies of my mail to a pager company anyway). Also most
people include some of my message in theirs that is preceded with
a ">". What I would like is to not send the ">" lines and jump
to the first part of the message as my 200 characters. Make sense?
Perhaps there is a better way (using some AI program) to have the
message summed up in a few lines. If so, I am open to suggestions,
but for now I would think that the first few new lines would be fine.

All suggestions are welcome.
