Re: quota error message -- "Can't create output: Error 0"

it doesnt want to write to the dir .... try changing the owner of the
mail or something like that to mail and the dir maybe ???
this way when it writes it it wont write to the users dir that is over
quota maybe create mail groups like usermail user2mail etc ????
then in each groups add mail and the user ... mail will be the owner
and the user will be the only othe member of the group ... the dir will
be owned by mail which will have no quota????
I dont know ifthat will work but maybe it will fire off some neurons for
other non proc ways around this problem.

I'm not sure if the following is a procmail setup problem, a sendmail
setup problem or some interaction between the two

I've got sendmail-885 installed with procmail as the local mailer, and the
behaviour is exhibited with either procmail-3.10 (which we've been using)
or procmail-3.11pre7 which I just tested.

When a message bounces due to over quota the error message that comes back
is "Can't create output: Error 0" ... here is an example error message
bounced back:

Date: Mon, 5 May 1997 16:45:12 -0400 (EDT)
From: Mail Delivery Subsystem <MAILER-DAEMON(_at_)hwcn(_dot_)org>
To: postmaster(_at_)hwcn(_dot_)org
Subject: Returned mail: Can't create output: Error 0

The original message was received at Mon, 5 May 1997 16:45:07 -0400 (EDT)
from <HOSTNAME REMOVED FOR PRIVACY>

----- The following addresses have delivery notifications -----
<USERID(_at_)freenet(_dot_)hamilton(_dot_)on(_dot_)ca> (unrecoverable error)

----- Transcript of session follows -----
procmail: Error while writing to "/home/DIR/USERID/.mail"
550 <USERID(_at_)freenet(_dot_)hamilton(_dot_)on(_dot_)ca>... Can't create
output: Error 0

   ----- Original message follows -----
.
.
.

(I changed some of the address/paths for privacy of user) ... This seems
to happen when the user is over quota. I'm hoping to get something more
informative sent back to the sender than this. I've looked through the
FAQ, some of the code, and the mailing list archives somewhat but can't
find this mentioned. Any help would be appreciated!

thanks,

-Matt
