I'm interested too. In fact, I want to store messages that have an old
date (as given by the "Date:" field) in a separate folder.
If you have stored From_ lines, they should be easier to handle than
random Date: headers. If you want to go with Date headers, a small C
program for canonicalizing datestamps was posted to this mailing list
around February or so.
The dates given in the From_ line and in the Date field may be very
different (e.g. one year). This is precisely why I want to reject these
messages.
