Problem with procmail|formail

1997-07-03 19:56:00

Beginner. I'm trying to have formail strip most headers off incoming mail
and forward to another mail account (actually a SmartList list). These
recipes aren't working together:

:0: fhw
| formail -k -X From: -X Subject:

:0:
! buslist(_at_)bigkitty(_dot_)azaccess(_dot_)com

(1) If I comment out the first recipe, the second one works fine.

(2) If I use a lock in the first recipe, the message disappears permanently
and the log says this:

procmail: Executing "formail,-k,-X,From:,-X,Subject:"
procmail: Couldn't determine implicit lockfile from "/usr/sbin/sendmail"
procmail: Locking ".lock"
procmail: Executing
"/usr/sbin/sendmail,-oi,buslist(_at_)bigkitty(_dot_)azaccess(_dot_)com"
procmail: Assigning "LASTFOLDER=/usr/sbin/sendmail -oi
buslist(_at_)bigkitty(_dot_)azacces$
procmail: Unlocking ".lock"
Subject: This should shorten the headers
  Folder: /usr/sbin/sendmail -oi buslist(_at_)bigkitty(_dot_)azaccess(_dot_)com
             158
procmail: Notified comsat: "type2@:/usr/sbin/sendmail -oi
buslist(_at_)bigkitty(_dot_)azac$

(3) If I do not use a lock in the first recipe, the message is passed on to
the second recipe but formail does not seem to actually do
anything--message headers remain intact. The log says this:

procmail: Executing "formail,-k,-X,From:,-X,Subject:,-I,Received:"
procmail: Couldn't determine implicit lockfile from "/usr/sbin/sendmail"
procmail: Locking ".lock"
procmail: Executing
"/usr/sbin/sendmail,-oi,buslist(_at_)bigkitty(_dot_)azaccess(_dot_)com"
procmail: Assigning "LASTFOLDER=/usr/sbin/sendmail -oi
buslist(_at_)bigkitty(_dot_)azacces$
procmail: Unlocking ".lock"
Subject: And this should strip all those irksome...
  Folder: /usr/sbin/sendmail -oi buslist(_at_)bigkitty(_dot_)azaccess(_dot_)com
             194
procmail: Notified comsat: "type2@:/usr/sbin/sendmail -oi
buslist(_at_)bigkitty(_dot_)azac$
procmail: Locking "fhw"

Any help?
