Different MTAs have different formats.

If you can do "sendmail -f", you can avoid that. There might be perl
modules that can do enough SMTP to forge sender. A program could easily
be written in C or perl to do it.
I just today wrote a reasonably general perl script to create MIME
bounces (and mailed a copy to Timothy seperately) that uses sendmail -f
for it's bounces. I will be refining it over the weekend. I intend to
include it in my procmail-perl hybrid, but it will be able to run
seperately.
I might make the bouncer availible for FTP next week.
