I am not a newbie when it comes to computers or Unix, but I've used
.forward in the past only to forward to a second email address, and
this is my first experience with procmail.
I've read the FAQ and set things up as recommended for testing.
However, although I have tried all the alternate .forward formats,
procmail never seems to be called. I have checked various man pages,
but haven't found anything that explains the format of the .forward
statements. Is there somewhere I can find this information? I would
feel much better if I understood what I was doing, rather than just
guessing.
Procmail itself is working fine. If I execute it directly, it finds
.procmailrc and rc.testing with no problem, and also creates the log
file. However, if I set up a .forward and send myself a message, the
message disappears and the log file is not updated.
I would like to get the .forward working, so would appreciate any
suggestions you have. Even more important, though, is that I'm
concerned about messages that may have come through while I was
testing. I get a lot of e-mail, and know I have lost some messages
this way. Is it sent to /dev/null if it's unable to interpret the
.forward? Or are my messages still on the server somewhere? If so,
how can I find them?
Thanks very much in advance for your help.
